St. Swithun's church is a building very much at the heart of its community. As part of a plan to make the grade I-listed church as people-friendly as possible, the Friends of St. Swithun's group drew up a plan to install toilets, kitchen and servery area.
The group oversaw the installation of water and power into the church, along with a kitchenette and toilet facilities in the tower.
However, a lack of funding curtailed the vision, until the FoSS approached Pennon Environmental Fund to help complete the enhancemnet programme with an award towards the installation of an oak servery and cupboards at the rear of the church.
Now complete, the project enables the church to host weddings, services and concerts to a much higher level of quallity and comfort.
