The picturesque church of St. George in Evenley, Oxfordshire was the grateful recipient of £4,000 in June 2016.
The award from Valencia Communities Fund, along with fundraising from the local community, helped the PCC to install a composting toilet in the tower of the church; an essential facility in a rural area with no other similar facilities.
A composting toilet was chosen as there is no mains water in this part of the church, and this is an increasingly common solution for churches looking to provide extra comfort to their congregation and other users.
The cubicle was constructed with volunteer labour.
