In January 2016, Valencia Communities Fund received an application from Highland Skate Parks Association that included plans to build a state-of-the-art bike track in Inverness.
With funding already in place for the track, the group approached Valencia Communities Fund for funding towards the installation of floodlighting and LED lighting, which would allow for extended use of the track all year round.
An award of £50,000 in February 2016 was made and work quickly started on buiding the track and the installation of lighting. Works were complete a year later and the new facility is already being widely used by the community and visitors from further afield.
The project is a shining example of how one group's vision can change a community for the better.
