For almost 900 years, Dronfield Parish Church has stood sentinel-like over the Drone valley, attracting worshippers from surrounding parishes.
During its lifetime, the church has been expanded, altered and added to, surviving the Reformation and the Victorian penchant for extreme makeovers alike.
Time is the building's greatest enemy, however, and in 2008 the church approached Derbyshire Environmental Trust for funding through Valencia Communities Fund towards extensive renovation of the fabric of the church.
Some of the more spectacular remedial works took place on the spire itself, which was partially dismantled during the works, whilst guttering on the South Porch kept water, so often a cause of deterioration in churches away from the ancient stones.
