About the Landfill Communities Fund

The Landfill Communities Fund began life as the Landfill Tax Credits Scheme in 1996 as a way of improving community facilities for those living in the vicinity of a landfill site. It allows landfill operators to donate a percentage of their tax liability to an environmental body. In the last 28 years, more than £1.6billion has been spent on qualifying community, environmental and heritage projects all over the UK.

The Landfill Communities Fund is a private, voluntary scheme, operated by enrolled environmental bodies and regulated on behalf of HMRC by ENTRUST.
