Thanks to the enterprise of a group of young skaters and Fullcircle CIC, Coalshaw now boasts a much improved skate park.
In 2011, a group of young skaters, unhappy with the state of their current facilities, approached Fullcircle in the hope of improving their outdated and disrepaired skate park.
Fullcircle supported the group in gathering support for the project from local people and councillors. The group were consulted on the design of the park, ensuring it met their needs, and a grant of £107,384 from Valencia Communities Fund through the Landfill Communities Fund helped bring the dream to life.
Other funding was provided by the District Investment Fund and by the efforts of the Kerrching Youth Opportunity Fund, and the park was officially opened in March 2015.
The new park is bigger, constructed of durable concrete and is attracting users of all ages from the Greater Manchester area; a great example of empowering young people to improve their local environment.
