Dronfield Hall Barn dates from the early 15 century, with its current exterior built 400 years later. The medieval building has been the subject of much renovation in order to increase its day-to-day use.
The first award of £133,000 from Valencia Communities Fund enabled Dronfield Heritage Trust to build a new extension to the original structure, housing the new cafe. This provided a vital source of income for the trust, and attracted people off the High Street into the barm.
In 2015, Valencia Communities Fund second award, this time of £28,000, was used to create a heritage garden that showcases different gardens throughout the history of the barn.
The recent success of the projects at Dronfield Hall Barn has culminated in the award to Mike Slinn of Overall Winner in the the Heritage Heroes Awards from The Heritage Alliance.
