In 2006, the Friends of Eastwood Park group was formed with the aim of upgrading and modernising the Heritage Park.
The 15-acre park was gifted to the people of Chesterfield in 1912 by Alderman Eastwood (for whom the park is named) as a public park, along with the adjoining house.
The friends group has spent the last 12 years modernising the park and the latest drive was to gather ideas and suggestions from the local community about their wants and desires to improve the out-dated facilities. One item on the very first 'wish list' collected from Youth Club members was a skate park.
With the support and funding of Valencia Communities Fund the group was able to deliver the skate and wheels park in 2017. The young people were delighted. The facility is in constant use after school, and by pre-schoolers during the school day.
