New Equipment for Landford Recreation Ground

Landford Parish Council is pleased to announce that the upgrade to the play equipment on the Recreation Ground is now complete.

The old equipment consisted of a set of elderly swings (no-one could remember when they were installed) a more recent toddler multiplay unit, and a junior multiplay unit which needed refurbishment.  There was nothing else for juniors (the roundabout having been removed several years ago on safety grounds) and nothing at all for older teenagers and adults.

The safety surfacing was in raised bark pits which, although initially cheap to install and aesthetically very suited to the rural location, had proved very expensive to maintain.

For juniors there is now a rotating climbing net, a new roundabout and a new multiplay unit.  Also in the enclosed area there is a set of swings with a choice of traditional flat seats or the very popular nest seat, and a trampoline with appeal to all ages.

For the toddlers the relatively new multiplay unit has been re-installed, the springy dog has been renovated, and they now have their own set of cradle swings.

At the edge of Maybush Copse there is a cableway and a set of monkey bars for teenagers of all ages, adults who are young at heart, and those who simply want to get fit.

The Parish Council's own reserves were far from sufficient to cover this level of expenditure despite it clearly being necessary. This complete transformation has been made possible by generous donations from local businesses and residents, and by grants from Cleansing Services Group, Valencia Communities Fund Environmental Company and Wiltshire Council.
